Set to be unveiled at the Frankfurt Motor Show, the Volvo C70 is a four-seat convertible with a three-piece steel roof that comes with an updated exterior design. Toyota A-BAT Concept

The Toyota A-BAT was on display at the Toyota exhibit in Detroit at the 2008 North American International Auto Show beginning Monday, January 14. Kevin Hunter, president, Calty Design Research, Inc said that "Driving from beyond the suburbs to the city is a way of life for many people. We've taken Toyota's truck heritage to a different level by envisioning a vehicle capable of manouvering the suburbs as well as dirt roads. This compact truck is as comfortable for long commutes as it is for road trips. It can accommodate outdoor toys and home improvement supplies. Plus, customers benefit from the hybrid powertrain's low emissions and fuel economy."

TMS Advanced Product Strategy group and Calty, Toyota's North American-based, research and design centre located in Newport Beach, California are the group that responsible for the A-BAT concept development. This team created a new genre of compact vehicle with good fuel economy, advanced functionality, manoeuvrability, unique styling within its segment, and a durable package suitable for an active lifestyle.

Beside the lightweight A-BAT concept package also coupled with Toyota's Hybrid Synergy Drive technology is designed to deliver excellent fuel economy. Translucent solar panels in the top surface of the instrument panel capture sunlight and convert it into energy, showcasing the vehicle's "green" character. Toyota A-BAT is an environmentally friendly cool truck.

This cool car has a unique aerodynamic exterior crafted by Calty Project Chief Designer Ian Cartabiano and Creative Designer Matt Sperling. They integrated Toyota's design philosophy, "Vibrant Clarity" into the exterior by keeping the design forward-looking, crisp and functional.

Although the A-BAT is rugged and has a spirited exterior, the interior team worked to create a modern look for the interior. The door trim, shoulder, armrest and instrument panel pads and seat cushions are made of a tough, lightweight and comfortable material that can be selected for personalization.

Daryl Harris, Senior Creative Designer said that "The inspiration behind the exposed structure on the interior was drawn from high-end mountain bike frames. "We applied lightweight construction materials, such as carbon fiber and aluminum, to the instrument panel, console and seats for increased structural rigidity while reducing mass."

The interior of this cool automotive has a retractable portable navigation unit with a seven-inch diagonal screen and Wi-Fi internet. It also includes other advanced features such as a port for portable device assistant synchronization and a hard drive for digital music. The Toyota A-Bat is the next evolution of compact truck.

2010 Nissan 370Z

Many of the noteworthy improvements found on the 2010 Nissan 370Z are suspension enhancements designed to keep this quick car firmly planted on the track. The 2010 370z is only available in six-speed manual transmission alongside the infamous rev matching system.

No word on the original equipment tires yet, though the 2009 model did feature staggered fitting Yokohama ADVAN Sport high-performance tires P245/40ZR19 in the front and P285/35ZR19s in the rear. These Y-rated wholesale Yokohama tires were built for speed and a great match for the vehicle last year, so it will be interesting to see what improvements, if any, have been made for the new model.

Consumers can expect the 2010 Nissan 370Z to show up in dealerships sometime in June 2009.

Dubai firm to launch super/hyper cars in India

Three brands of Super Hyper Cars (SHCs), including the world's fastest car, Ultimate Aero, are all set to storm Indian roads by the end of this year, said a report.

Dubai-based Ultimate Motors, one of the leading distibutors of exotic and luxury sports cars in the world, will be launching the three brands of commercial SHCs - Shelby, Zenvo and Arash, by December, according to a report in The Economic Times.

'The demand for luxury cars in India is increasing of late and people are now keen to have customised cars. We are in touch with four leading dealers in India and expect to launch the commercial SHCs by the end of this year,' Ultimate Motors' president, Nasser Al-Hai, said, on the sidelines of a luxury lifestyle event here.

US-based Shelby SuperCars' Utimate Aero has been recorded as the world's fastest car with a speed of 413 kilometres per hour (257 mph) and produces 1,183 horsepower thus making it the world's most powerful production car. It can reach from 0-to-60 mph in 2.78 seconds.

Similarly, Denmark's Zenvo and UK-based Arash are also in the race to introduce their SHCs into the Indian market.

Arash has a unique road car aerodynamics whereas the Zenvo comes with full carbon body and steel chassis.

Despite Daihatsu Xenia available in two engine variant, the 1.0-liter and 1.3-liter engine, since it was launched in 2004, this car had only one option that is manual transmission. And although many customers are asking about the automatic variant, PT. Astra Daihatsu Motor still not intend to issue AT variants.
Toyota Avanza, a similar model that sold by Toyota provide automatic variant for the type S-1.5-litre while even before PT. Toyota Astra Motor also provides a variant version of the 1.3-litre engine.

But desire of Daihatsu customers to have automatic variant only counting days. PT. Astra Daihatsu Motor as sole distributor of Daihatsu Cars in Indonesia plans to release automatic transmission variant by November 18, 2009. Although not yet officially announced Xenia which are likely to release automatic version and how many price, PT. ADM believes that Xenia will be accepted by the market and give option to consumers of Daihatsu.

The rumors that revolving in the automotive community that Xenia AT will soon be introduced by PT. Astra Daihatsu Motor on November 18, 2009 it was 1.300 cc variant with a 10 million rupiah more expensive rather than the manual version.

Tips Otomotif : Ekonomis Berkendara = Hemat Bensin atau Hemat Solar

1. Hindari memanaskan mesin terlalu lama sebelum berkendara. Selama mesin bekerja maka bahan bakar tetap terkirim, sehingga banyak BBM yang terbuang sia-sia.
2. Pertahankan kecepatan kendaraan sedapat mungkin sekitar 70 ~ 80 km/jam atau RPM di bawah 3000.
3. Hindari kecepatan tinggi yang tidak perlu semakin tinggi kecepatan sebanding dengan tingginya putaran mesin sehingga bahan bakar minyak yang harus dikirimpun semakin besar.
4. Sesuaikan gigi percepatan dengan kecepatan kendaraan, gunakan gigi rendah untuk menjalankan kendaraan pertama kali.
   Contoh: Gigi 1 Kecepatan 0-20 km/jam
   Gigi 2 Kecepatan 20-40 km/jam
   Gigi 3 Kecepatan 40-60 km/jam
   Gigi 4 Kecepatan 60-90 km/jam
   Gigi 5 Kecepatan 90 ~ km/jam
5. Lakukan akselerasi/penekanan pedal gas secara perlahan (bertahap), jangan melakukan secara tiba-tiba karena dapat mengakibatkan terjadinya penambahan bahan bakar secara berlebihan.

World's First Proper Flying Car Makes Debut Flight

The Terrafugia Transition "roadable aircraft" - the nearest thing to a flying car yet built - has made its first test flight.

Terrafugia says that the flight took place on March 5, and will hold a media briefing at 1430 UK time. Meanwhile pictures of the flight are available on the company's website.

Company test pilot Phil Meteer, a retired air force colonel, is quoted by AVWeb as saying: "The first flight was remarkably unremarkable. I've flown several thousand hours in everything from Piper Cubs to F-16s, and the Transition flew like a really nice airplane."

In aircraft terms, the Transition is a light two-seater aircraft intended to fit within the new US "light sport" category. A light-sport pilot's licence is easier and cheaper to acquire than a normal private pilot's ticket, and medical red tape is reduced. Cruise airspeed of 115 knots is expected, range of 450 miles and "highway speed" on the ground.

The Transition has most of the weaknesses of light aircraft, in that it can't easily be flown through poor weather, bad visibility, or restricted airspace (as found above cities, for instance). Users needing to get through such obstacles will need to land at a suitable strip nearby, just as a normal private pilot in a Piper Tomahawk might.

‘Circuit of the Year’ award for Losail

The Qatar Motor and Motorcycle Federation (QMMF) is proud to announce that it has been nominated as the best organised round of the 2009 MotoGP series’ by a panel that included officials, riders, manufacturers and team representatives.

The award for MotoGP ‘Circuit of the Year’ will be presented today at a dinner after the final race of the season in Valencia.

“This is a huge moment for Qatar and for the QMMF and something for which we are understandably proud,” said Nasser Khalifa Al-Attiyah, President of the Qatar Motor and Motorcycle Federation.

“To compete on an organisational level with the best circuits in the world after just seven years is special for us. We are really only beginners in terms of experience and that makes it extra special for myself and everyone who has worked so hard at the Losail circuit in Qatar.”

The Losail Circuit hosted a round of MotoGP for the first time in 2004 – the race was won by Sete Gibernau on a Honda- and kick-started this year’s series with a thrilling floodlit race in April, which was won by Casey Stoner on a Ducati.

Italy’s Valentino Rossi clinched the premier title in Sepang recently to add to his previous eight Grand Prix World Championship titles and the 18-race series reaches its conclusion in Valencia today.

Al-Attiyah also announced in Valencia that the Losail circuit will undergo improvements during the close season in readiness for pre-season testing and the opening round of the MotoGP season in Qatar on April 11th.

“We are already working on getting everything in order for the 2010 season and track improvements will begin after next weekend’s Endurance races at Losail,” said Al-Attiyah.

“We are working on asphalting the run off areas on the corners of the track and preparing the track set-up for the official tests in February and March.”

The QMMF is keen for the Losail track to conform to a high standard of both FIA and FIM licensing regulations.

Al-Attiyah also announced plans to send a young Qatari rider into the new Moto2 category of next year’s MotoGP series. “We are currently negotiating with several teams through Carmelo Ezpeleta, CEO of Dorna, to make this happen and hope to announce further details of the project as soon as possible.”

Moto2 is set to replace the 250cc category from 2010. This new category is intended to be a prestigious yet cost-effective accompaniment to MotoGP. Honda has been appointed as the single engine supplier and teams will also use a control tyre supplied by a single company.

2010 Tesla Model S

I am very, very excited about the brand new Tesla Model S. For one, I think its a good look ahead to the future of the automobile industry. The age of petroleum powered cars has to come to an end eventually, and it seems like that might be sooner rather than later. The Tesla Model S is one sexy looking battery-powered car – one I hope plenty of people will one day drive.

The Tesla Model S was revealed yesterday in Hawthorne, California as the first mass-produced electric highway-capable car. The Model S is a bit pricey, as is to be expected with this type of new technology, coming in at $49,900 after a $7,500 tax break. The car comes with three different range pack options: 160 mile, 230 mile, and 300 mile. On a standard 220 volt outlet, it takes only four hours to re-charge the vehicle to full power. Under the hood the Tesla Model S puts out enough power to reach 60mph in only 5.6 seconds and achieve a top speed of 120 mph. Power is transferred to big 21-inch wheels (original equipment front tires 245/35ZR21, rear tres 285/30ZR21).

The exterior is sexy, but what about the interior? First off, the spacious Model S comfortable fits seven people. It features dashboard control panels that are fully Internet and 3G capable, as well as environmentally-friendly features such as chrome-free vegetable tanned Italian leather and 100% recycled PET carpeting.

2010 Tesla Model S may seem a bit expensive, even after the tax break, but consider the fact that it costs about $4 to fully charge. Now imagine going 300 miles with only $4. You can see fuel savings certainly add up, and the Tesla Model S isn’t exact barebones either. There are plenty of high-tech and luxury features that justify the price tag, which should drop considerably as the government helps the auto industry transition to green technology.

Korean e-Zone electric car to be manufactured in Southeast U.S.?

CT&T Company, Ltd., a global leader in Electric Vehicle (EV) technology, announced plans today for e-Zone and c-Zone electric vehicle production in the United States with plans to employ 2,600, including production workers and managers, over the next five years.

CT&T United, the U.S. subsidiary of CT&T Korea, Ltd. is investing significantly to maintain its global position in the move towards consumer use of electric vehicles by establishing its North American headquarters, a research and development center and several manufacturing facilities to produce and market an entire product line of EVs and batteries. Company officials are considering potential sites in South Carolina, Georgia, North Carolina, Alabama and California.

Michael Jackson's This Is It - 4 out of 5!

It was supposed to be the music event of the century. If you were a fan, this was the ticket you had to have, because this was it — the supposed last time Michael Jackson would perform live.

And then, well, we all know what happened

I would not call this film a movie because its a documentary rather then a film. You will take a closer and inside look of how the man himself get prepared for his concert. I'm amazed by the creativity putted in this concert. Director Kenny Ortega is truly a man out of his brain for giving out those ideas. The songs played in this movie sounds more catchy and sexier then the original records, and I recommend you to watch this movie at a cinema which have a good sound system. Seriously, you'll be thrilled. The song sounds very fresh yet more catchy, sexier, funkier thanks to the awesome lineage of guitarist, drummer, keyboard, precision and so on.

Some highlights include:

• Jackson rehearsing “Black or White,” in which Australian guitarist Orianthi Panagaris (she's hot for F sake LOL) takes center stage to jam along with Jackson.

• The new “Thriller” portion, which showed Jackson and director Kenny Ortega (he also directed the “Disney’s High School Musical” movies) watching with the actors through 3D glasses.

• His vocal in the song Human Nature and I Just Can't Stop Loving You is so pure and sexy, just to remind the fans that his falsetto voice is beautiful. It gives me chills to hear Jackson singing these two song because this song is where he use his vocal more in high range note.
  

• The beautiful and elaborate video sequence for “Earth Song,” Jackson’s environmental tune, featuring a young girl who wanders through a rain forest, falls asleep and wakes up to find the forest destroyed by man.

• Green-screen rehearsals for “Smooth Criminal,” with old black-and-white movie footage merged with a highly choreographed dance sequence.

• The time where all the dancers are practicing Michael's signature crotch grabbing move at backstage. Hear and watch closely as the instructor (a woman!) tries to show how it is done.

There is no doubt that the “This Is It” concert would have been one to rock the ages. But sadly, that happily-ever-after ending was not to be. I watched it twice!

The film, however, is nice tribute, enabling the fans to have one last look at the man who, regardless of his quirks, eccentricities and legal woes, knew how to entertain a crowd and who had made the world smile since he was a cute little 6-year-old.

Just a hint for moviegoers — stay until the very end. You’ll listening to Michael's new song titled This Is It. Trust me, its addictive once you get use to it.

I rate this documentary 4 out of 5. The camera and footage can be better but all that can't be blamed, because people never knew Michael would left us after that. After all it was intended for his library of his show collection. But I know we all love Michael Jackson, including myself; and you will feel quite sad towards the end of the documentary because you know you won't see anymore live performances of him. Allah bless you Michael.
